Collection: Hockey Series - Prints

Hockey played a very important role in my life as a child growing up on a northern Alberta farm where we played hockey on the open-air rinks and ponds. Hockey has always been a passion for me, for many years I played hockey competitively and my brother, Lyman and I were fortunate to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth on hockey scholarships. I started painting images of hockey long after playing university hockey. While playing recreational hockey I started to observe the skate marks on the ice and how the puck would leave marks on boards. In a hockey arena there is minimal use of the 3 primary colours (red, yellow, and blue) colours that inspired my Hockey Series. I started this series to capture the visual phenomenon of an ordinary setting, a hockey rink, from the perspective of the hockey player rather than from the perspective of a fan.
